April 29, 2019
Dear Rotarian Curlers,
On behalf of the Madison Curling Club, The Rotary Club of Madison, The Horizons Rotary Club and District 2650, we invite you to the 25th Annual International Curling Fellowship of Rotarians World Championships.
The Championships will be held March 27th through April 3rd 2020. We will be playing at the Madison Curling Club, which boasts 640 members and is home to many World and National curlers, of which 2018 Olympic Gold medalist Matt Hamilton is one. Our club will be 100 years old next year, and this event will be kicking off the Anniversary year.
Speaking of Anniversaries, this is the silver anniversary of our Fellowship. Over those years we have come together every two years to enjoy the fellowship, keen play, and to crown new champions. In Spring of 2020, we will come together again, and do the same. We’re excited to host this fine event, and are sure you will be well cared for in true Rotary style.
Madison is a vibrant city, home to the State Capitol, the University of Wisconsin, Frank Lloyd Wright, and over 500 thousand people. We are an Isthmus city (a strip of land between two lakes) and fine parks, restaurants and world-class entertainment venues.
Our headquarter hotel will be the Edgewater Hotel. Located downtown and on the shore of Lake Mendota. Within walking distance to the State Capitol Building, State Street and the famous Farmers Market, we’re sure you will enjoy Madison even more! Information on making hotel reservations can be found on the registration form, or by clicking here.
Registration is $450.00 (US funds) per person. A link to the registration form can be found at the bottom of this page. In true Madison style and tradition, all the beer and sodas you can drink, are free at the club. We will have 11 teams in the Championship division and can accommodate as many Friendship teams as sign up. As of today, we have seven teams that have expressed interest. We are formalizing our partners’ program, and will have details over the next few months. As always, we encourage all to attend!
Flying from “Across the Pond” or from Canada, you can fly to Chicago O’Hare airport (ORD) and take a two and a half bus ride to downtown Madison, or fly to Chicago and take a connecting flight to Madison (MSN). Flights from Newark to Madison are also available. We are arranging local transportation and more information will become available soon.
So, stay turned for more updates. Our committee is planning a great event, and we hope you will attend.
You can check out the schedule as of May 1st here.
Yours in Rotary,
The Madison Rotary Worlds 2020 Planning Committee (click here for a list of the planning committee).
